In 2015, the state of Vermont passed mandatory GMO labeling legislation, named Act 120. This state law will take effect on July 1, 2016 and requires that all products produced with genetically engineered ingredients sold at retail in the state of Vermont be labeled accordingly. Since Whitehall Specialties, along with many of our private label customers, sell retail products in Vermont we are in the process of updating our packaging to reflect the necessary labeling required. As there is no way to guarantee our products not be sold at retail in the state of Vermont, Whitehall Specialties is mandating this update be made to all retail packaging that falls under their legal definition. To comply with Act 120, our retail packaging will bear the following statement on the back of the label, beneath the list of ingredients: “Partially Produced with Genetic Engineering”
Act 120 contains detailed definitions, requirements, and penalties and we request that you become familiar with the law. The state of Vermont has provided an annotated law that can be found at:

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us as soon as possible, as we need to act quickly in order to become compliant with the law. Whitehall Specialties would be held liable for any mislabeled retail products, so your prompt cooperation in this matter is very much appreciated. Thank you.
