Whitehall Specialties has created “Top That!”, a new retail grated parmesan cheese product blended with real parmesan cheese for its “Ridgeview Farms of Wisconsin” brand. In fact, parmesan cheese is the first ingredient on the list. The new product provides an economical alternative to 100% natural parmesan cheese, according to Dave Kelsey, Chief Operating Officer, Whitehall Specialties.
“As the leading manufacturer of non-standardized cheeses, including parmesan-style products, in the United States,” Kelsey said, “We’ve got a pretty good idea of what people are looking for in terms of price without sacrificing taste. That’s why we’re excited to be able to bring this new product to them.”
“Priced at about 25% less than most natural parmesan cheese, “Top That!” is a great-tasting, high-quality, economically-priced alternative in the marketplace,” he said. “We’re certainly maintaining a cost advantage over competitive choices.” Kelsey explained “Top That!” looks and tastes as good as parmesan, but is not limited in ways parmesan cheese is. “We created this product because the demand for parmesan cheese exceeds the supply,” he said. “Our product is especially popular for use on pizza, pasta and popcorn. It gives everything a classic Italian flavor.”
“Parmesan cheese has specifications that have to be adhered to in order for it to be considered parmesan. That includes the fact that it has to be aged 10 months to legally be called parmesan cheese,” he said.
Sold in dried and grated styles, “Top That!” offers a long shelf life which is especially beneficial for orders being shipped overseas. This is the company’s first venture into the retail shaker market. It will be available in both 3 ounce and 8 ounce sizes. Contact us today for a free 3 ounce shaker sample
