“There’s life fabric at Whitehall.”

When Rhonda Noonan took over as Whitehall Specialties’ Director of Human Resources in August, it didn’t take her long to figure out the company’s greatest asset is its amazing people.

“There is such a life fabric at Whitehall,” Noonan said. “Everyone is very welcoming. When I started, lots of people were happy to assist me with whatever I needed to get settled in and moving forward. That’s just how it is here.”

Noonan said the people that make up this type of culture need to be rewarded. “We’re establishing performance measurements that will enable clear and standard effort toward successful outcomes.”

This philosophy is driving the company to undergo a thorough review of its processes and procedures. “We’re looking at how our current strategy affects our ability to attract and retain top talent, achieve performance goals and deliver on expectations. The approach is multifaceted involving a review of job descriptions, job role alignment, training and development, and career progression.  We are evolving in our pursuit of “right people, right place, right time” initiatives.  Our direction makes sense for our employees, the company we are and will become as we face an aggressive growth forecast in a region that is highly talent competitive.”

Most recently with Caterpillar®, Rhonda is putting the knowledge she gained throughout her 20 year HR career toward building programs that will make sustainable differences for the current and future workforce at Whitehall Specialties.

“We’ve got big employers such as Ashley Furniture and Gold’n Plump® in the area. Human capital is in high demand here,” she said.  “That’s why we need to hit the refresh button and make clear why someone should want to work at Whitehall.

“We need to define our brand and promote our culture to our employees and the people that don’t work here yet. We want our people to talk about how great it is to work at Whitehall when they’re sitting at the dinner table.”
