Senior Facility Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Facility Engineer to work in our Corporate office located in Whitehall, WI!

The Senior Facilities Engineer is responsible for providing technical engineering leadership in the organization and responsible for completion of the design and development of optimal, cost-effective, and reliable manufacturing processes. This position will have a primary technical role in the engineering of new, modified and/or existing manufacturing operations, mechanical and electrical systems, processes, and equipment in a clean-room environment and systems integration where applicable. In addition, the Senior Facilities Engineer will have demonstrated strengths in multiple aspects of food manufacturing capabilities to plan and accomplish goals.

The ideal candidate is an experienced Senior Facility Engineer interested in being part of the team to move the company to the next level.

The position reports to the Vice President of Operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring high volume, continuous manufacturing processes operate safely and efficiently for a 4-plant operation.
  • Builds, fosters, and develops positive relationships across all levels of the organization in support of an inclusive goal-oriented culture.
  • Applies lean manufacturing techniques such as TPM / FMEA to drive improvements in overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Manages $5 MM Capex budget. Develops project scopes, plans, and schedules with definable objectives and due dates. Leads said projects as appropriate.
  • Defines and documents appropriate preventative maintenance procedures for production equipment, sharing best practice across the network of facilities.
  • Applies advanced knowledge of high volume, continuous manufacturing processes and equipment to maximize safety, product quality, throughput, and uptime.
  • Provides mentoring/leadership to maintenance and operations team members to keep equipment in excellent condition.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects utilizing lean manufacturing techniques, working with team leaders and production supervisors to create a culture of continuous improvement and employee engagement.
  • Utilizes and employs statistical methods to support process improvements and validations.
  • Tracks and reports assigned continuous improvement project results as well as environmental and wastewater.
  • Develops expectations, timelines and objectives for contractors and vendors.
  • Manages new product transfer into production, working with the R&D and manufacturing teams to ensure that our processes are capable of meeting customer requirements.
  • Interacts with manufacturing personnel, vendors, team members and customers and account managers as necessary to satisfy project requirements.
  • Supervise the project engineer and controls technician.

Education / Experience:

  • BS in engineering or relevant discipline and 10+ years in manufacturing engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience maintaining and improving high volume, continuous manufacturing lines is preferred.
  • Prior experience supervising skilled labor employees, preferably engineers, engineering technicians, maintenance technicians, or the equivalent.
  • Must have a proven track record in applying lean manufacturing and other continuous improvement manufacturing methodologies. Six Sigma Black Belt certification a plus.
  • Proven track record applying statistical analysis to develop and control processes in a manufacturing environment.
  • Electromechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems knowledge and troubleshooting experience preferred.
  • Experience developing and managing a Process Safety Management program. PSM certification highly desirable.
