CAKE:
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1 cup butter
1 cup hot water
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 eggs
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla extract
FROSTING:
1 1/3 cup butter
1/4 cup cocoa powder
6 T milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 pound powdered sugar
Grease and flour a 15 x 10 jelly roll pan. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and cocoa. In a saucepan, melt butter and add water. Bring to a boil and remove from heat. Pour over flour mixture and stir to cool slightly. Mix in the buttermilk, baking soda, and vanilla. Beat the eggs and stir into batter. Once well incorporated, pour batter into pan and bake for 20 minutes. While cake is baking, prepare frosting. melt butter in a saucepan. Add the cocoa and stir to combine. Turn off heat. Add milk and vanilla. Stir in powdered sugar slowly until desired consistency is reached. Pour over warm cake. Sprikle with nuts while frosting is warm or allow to cool and decorate as desired.
